Lakeside, roadside, wineryside? We have a motel fit for every explorer!
What comes to mind when you think of motels? Certainly vending machines stocked with cans of soda and chips, a gum ball machine dating back to ’82, an anything but welcoming lobby and perhaps a musty smell.
The motels as we may have known them may slowly become a thing of the distant past. Passionate moteliers are taking decrepit and dated motels and transforming them into beautiful accomidations.
We’ve round up our favorite motels that Ontario has to offer.
The June Motel
A throwback to the good ‘ol days with feminine touches fit for solo creatives to girlfriends getaways and in between. The June motel offers great wine and good vibes. With two locations, one in Prince Edward County and the other in Sauble beach each offering similar vibes but with slight differences offering a signature experience complimentary to each location. If you’re in the mood to gather around a bon fire and roast marshmallows and a lobby bar to refill your rosé at the Prince Edward County location or lounging pool side with a frosé (frozen rosé) followed by a New England meets California 1970’s inspired cuisine at The Hayday restaurant at the June Sauble Beach.
Whatever location you choose, you won’t go wrong and there will be an abundance of rose and good ol’ fun to be had!

Drake Devonshire Inn
You’ve probably already become familiarized yourself with the Drake Hotel’s downtown location, whether you’ve stayed there, rang in the new year in style or enjoyed brunch- the drake hotel on queen street has become a Toronto staple. Enter the Devonshire – the drakes younger lakeside sister in Prince Edward County. This 13 room boutique hotel (once an old country inn redone in a hip-rustic fashion) ticks off all the boxes with stunning art installations, cultural programs + events, and food and beverage menus that represent the bounty of nearby farmers.

This retro chic boutique experience is located in the heart of Canada’s tourism district Niagara Falls. This motel is the most reminiscent on our list. Offering a 1950’s and 60’s roadside inn feel. Paying homage to the Worlds most prestigeous vehicle, the cadillac motel offers themed rooms each included with a mural of the vehicle- whether its a classic vintage caddy, or ones that belonged to Al Capone, Marilyn Monroe, ZZ Top and of course Elvis.
