Sharing my self-care routine.
Whether it’s the beginning or end of the week a night of self-care does wonders for your overall wellbeing. For me I aim to have at least one night of the week where I unplug and pamper myself. Bath bombs, bubbles, candles, chocolate, nail polish, whatever my heart beats for I deliver!
Typically and most often my self care night is very much akin to a day at the spa. I’m taking an epsom salt* bath (disclaimer* do not put more salt than the recommended daily amount!) or any form of luxurious bath, shaving, nails, hair, etc…
I’ll walk you through what an evening of self-care looks like for me, including my must have products!
Marsha’s Evening of Self-Care
Step 1: Completely and utterly let go of everything and everyone! This is me time. Easier said then done when you’re an introverted empath hahahaha. To help me get to into my zone I do a little breathwork. Three easy cleansing breaths (inhale through the nose big sigh and exhale out the mouth).
Once I have cleared the space, I light a candle or sometimes an incense stick, find a playlist and get into my bath. Bath time is usually 20 minutes. I really try and completely relax. Putting aside to-do’s and other thoughts that enter my end. Sometimes I’ll read a book or listen to a podcast. Once bath time is over, I moisturize, get into cozy pj’s and put on a face mask. I keep face masks on much longer than suggested so at this point I’m often curled up on the couch and watching a care-free and an easy to digest movie- not out of character for my to watch a psychological thriller but I really try and keep it as fluffy as I can. This is also the part where I’d be painting my nails as well.
Face mask hopefully by now is off (2.5 hours later), nails are dry and I’m feeling more in my body, more relaxed and ready to take on the rest of the week.
Whatever your form of self-care is be sure to practice it. For some it’s yoga (a slow meditative flow can really hit reset on your stress and mental clutter), a walk in nature, painting, talking to a friend. Let’s not glorify the hustle or being busy.
I would love to hear how you return back to yourself!
