In her own words- “Marsha meets…Marsha.”
The novel, To Kill A Mockingbird quoted “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view…until you climb in his skin and walk around in it.” Reading that in the tenth grade stuck with me throughout my teen years and still well into my twenties.
I’m fascinated by the paths other creatives have made for themselves; how they got to where they are, what their next steps are, where they find inspiration and where they draw the motivation to keep going and stay autonomous. To step inside their shoes and maybe for a moment see life through their lens.
So, for my next “Marsha Warren x” I caught up with myself and answered some questions.
MW: What moment changed your life forever?
MW: There are a couple moments that come to mind. The full moon one summer at my friends beach house in Connecticut, the way it glittered on the surface of the ocean as we drove along the water, I had never seen the Moon that way before. The cross-country road trip my sister and I took December 2012, packing up my jeep and heading west, stopping in Chicago, then Boulder Colorado to Vegas then Los Angeles. It was the first time I felt like going home to a place that’s never been home before.
MW: What does your ideal day look like?
MW: I’d wake up at 7:30, stretch, meditate, have a warm lemon water, walk my dog, make breakfast, have a coffee, work from my home office- writing either a screenplay, story, essay, memoir. Once I was done with work meet up with a friend or boyf for dinner or wine, perhaps catch the sunset at the beach. To summarize, my ideal day includes a perfect balance of self-care, inspiration & creativity, friends, love, community, connection.
MW: What are you most afraid of?
MW: Needles, specifically the blood work kind but also not fulfilling your creative potential.
MW: What is your relationship with beauty?
MW: Something that I will never take for granted. Beautiful landscapes, beautiful art, beautiful cities, beautiful journeys. Whats lovely is seeing that beauty is everywhere if you know how to look for it.
MW: Do you ever feel weird about saying what you do for a living?
MW: Always! It’s never easy and I don’t think it ever will be easy. Writer, poet, actress, model, dj, yogi, content creator? No, it’s not easy so don’t ask me! Hahahaha
